Meet the group in the Victoria area and travel west across Vancouver Island. Pick-up is offered from Swartz Bay Ferry Terminal, Victoria Airport or downtown Victoria, followed by a roughly 3.5-hour drive through lakes and old-growth forest toward the west coast. Settle into the oceanfront lodge and meet the group over dinner.
Board a high-speed boat for a journey through remote coastal wilderness to the Hot Springs Cove area. Continue on foot through rainforest to the natural mineral pools beside the ocean. Keep watch for sea otters, sea lions, bald eagles and, depending on season and conditions, whales or bears.
Choose the standard guided hiking programme or arrange one of the optional west-coast activities with the guide. The included walk combines rainforest, beaches and rocky coves, with time in Pacific Rim National Park beneath some of Vancouver Island’s oldest and largest trees.
Begin with another guided hike in Pacific Rim National Park, then travel east across Vancouver Island on the Valley of 1000 Waterfalls route. Stop at waterfalls for short walks and photographs. If timing permits, visit the distinctive Coombs market before arriving in Parksville.
Travel south toward Juan de Fuca Provincial Park. Depending on tides and conditions, explore tidal pools around Port Renfrew or hike through forest to Mystic Beach, crossing a suspension bridge and reaching a shoreline known for its sea cave and beach waterfall. Continue to the oceanfront resort in Sooke.
Spend the final full day hiking the coastal trail in East Sooke Park. The main route is approximately 10 km, with shorter options available for travellers who prefer less distance. Watch the shoreline for whales, sea lions and seals, and the forests and cliffs for eagles.
Leave Sooke and return to Victoria. If time permits, the guide may include a scenic loop through the city and a short harbour walk. Drop-off is scheduled in the Victoria area, including downtown, the airport or ferry connections.
